If you are a Beatles fan, a trip to London is not complete without a walk across the iconic Abbey Road, which is the famous road featured on the 1969 cover of the last Beatles studio LP aptly entitled "Abbey Road".

Abbey Road is a main road in the borough of Camden and the City of Westminster.  It ends at a roundabout junction with Grove End Road and Garden Road.  It is at this busy junction where the famous crosswalk is located.  Despite the fact that there is a lot of traffic, drivers are very used to and accommodating to the those who flock to the famous crosswalk to pay homage; patiently stopping to allow them to take photos of the crosswalk and photos of themselves crossing it.

In 2010, the Abbey Road crosswalk was given a Grade II Listed Building status by the English Heritage association.

Abbey Road Studios is right in front of the crosswalk and surrounded by a white stone wall that is a canvass for fans to sign and write notes.  The wall is repainted white when it gets too full.

Of the crowd that was there the day I visited, I was the only one with a pen, so quite a few people borrowed it!  Unfortunately it was a ballpoint pen and difficult to write with on stone.  If you ever go, take a Sharpie with you!

Sitting on the park bench on the side of the roundabout watching the traffic and tourists, young and old, from all over the world, joyfully walking across the crosswalk taking photos and writing on the wall, the lyrics of one of the songs on the Abbey Road LP came to mind:
